Proud of his Central Coast roots, Matt attended Arroyo Grande High School before graduating from UC Santa Barbara with a bachelor’s degree in Law and Society. To broaden his horizons before law school, Matt attended a year long Masters program at the International Institute for the Sociology of Law in the northern Basque region of Spain near the town of San Sebastian.

After accepting an academic scholarship from Western State University College of Law in Orange County, CA, Matthew gained experience clerking for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office – Hardcore Gang Unit, completing a Judicial Internship with the Superior Court for the County Orange, and was a two year contributor/editor on Law Review.

Upon graduation, Matthew honed his civil litigation skills as an associate attorney with an AV rated insurance defense firm in Irvine, CA.
