Kathy was born in Roseville, California, but came to Santa Maria as an infant. Kathy comes from a pioneer family through her mother’s side who was born and raised here with long time pioneer parents. She attended local public schools and Allan Hancock College earning her degree in Business Administration. Kathy started her career in the banking business as a bookkeeper with Mid State Bank before taking time off from the work force to be a full time mother to her three sons, Michael, Kyle and Jordan.
Before returning to work full time, Kathy was also a part time school bus driver for the Orcutt Union School District in order to still devote time to raising her young boys. Kathy returned to the work force full time as a surveyor’s assistant in the construction field, but eventually her interest in the law led her to seek a career opportunity with Kirk & Simas in January 1998.
This opportunity opened the door for her to the Law Office Study Program sponsored by the State Bar of California. Kathy participated in the program with Kirk & Simas’ senior partner, Alex Simas, and was admitted to the bar in December 2005. Her practice spans all the firm's departments, but focuses on estate planning and administration matters, business transactions and management oriented employment law.
Kathy enjoys spending time with her family and friends and participating in outdoor activities such as camping, boating, hunting, bicycling and riding quads. |
